WLC Announces Cody Dion as 16U Head Coach for the 2026–2027 Season

We are proud to announce the hiring of Cody Dion as Head Coach of the 16U team for the 2026–2027 season. 

Dion, from Colorado Springs, Colorado, brings a wealth of high-level playing and coaching experience to WLC. Standing 6’4” and shooting right, he enjoyed a decade-long professional playing career across multiple North American leagues, including the CHL and SPHL. Known for his physical presence and consistency, Dion amassed significant games played and points throughout his career while earning a reputation as a dependable two-way competitor and often enforcer.

Dion played at the NCAA Division I level with the University of Alabama Huntsville, where he developed the foundation for his professional career. He also gained international experience competing in Finland’s Suomi-sarja. His playing career culminated with a Presidents Cup championship as a member of the Peoria Rivermen, highlighting both his competitive drive and commitment to team success.

Since retiring from professional hockey, Dion has transitioned seamlessly into coaching. He currently serves as Head Coach of the Colorado Rampage AAA 15U team and assists with 16U and 18U, where he has built a reputation for developing high-character athletes and fostering an elite Tier 1 environment. Dion’s coaching philosophy  emphasizes structure and puck movement, accountability, and cultivating a competitive yet supportive team culture.

Dion expressed enthusiasm about joining WLC at a pivotal time for the program. “I’m excited for the opportunity to lead the 16U team at WLC,” said Dion. “The foundation is in place to build something special. My goal is to help these players maximize their potential, compete at the highest level, and prepare for the next stages of their hockey careers while building a culture they’re proud to be part of.” With strong recruiting momentum and a clear commitment to bring in elite players, WLC’s 2026–2027 16U team is being built to compete against the best teams in the country.
