The Washington Little Capitals are excited to welcome Ben Hammock as the U18 Elite head coach!
Ben Hammock is a longtime scout and a USAH Level 5 coach. He began his coaching career at the youth level in Maryland before moving on to various coaching roles in youth, junior, collegiate, international, and semi-professional hockey.
Additionally, Ben has worked with several scouting agencies and hockey teams/leagues like NHL Central Scouting, International Scouting Services (ISS), Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) and more.
Currently, Ben works as a Scout and Agent-Advisor for Apex Athletic, a Canada-based sports scouting and management agency. Ben has an extensive network with junior, college, and professional coaches, as well as general managers, owners, and scouts all around the world. He hopes to leverage those relationships to help with the advancement for all Little Caps players – helping them reach their full potential.
From WLC Hockey Director, Mike Donnellan, “Ben comes with a wealth of knowledge and a strong network which will help us in recruiting and player advancement. Ben has great energy and passion for this role. From all of our Staff and Families at WLC: Welcome aboard, Ben!
With record numbers and talent at U18 tryouts, we decided to build an additional team. The U18 Elite team will strengthen our midget program by providing a pipeline for more players to advance directly to junior hockey, in addition to our U18 National team as second year U18’s. This is a very positive step for WLC and brings more opportunity to aspiring junior players in the DMV!”
